Our History

In the past 10 years, Berg Muirhead has established itself as one of southeast Michigan's leading public relations firms.  We have successfully served a broad cross section of clients who need expert assistance with a wide variety of communications issues.

Berg Muirhead and Associates clients come from areas such as: health care, foundations, non-profits, hospitality and entertainment, education, retail, finance, technology, government and civic and public affairs.

Founding partners Bob Berg and Georgella Muirhead formed the company after more than two decades of building successful careers handling cutting-edge issues at state and local levels. They had a long history of working collaboratively on a wide variety of public relations activities prior to going into business together.

Bob served a total of 17 years as the senior public affairs advisor to Michigan's two longest serving chief executives - Governor William G. Milliken and Detroit Mayor Coleman A. Young - before starting his own public affairs company in 1994.

Georgella directed community relations activities for the cities of Ann Arbor, East Lansing, Southfield and Detroit, as well as for the Wayne County Commission for a total of 26 years. She formed her own communications company in 1997.

Berg Muirhead’s public relations expertise has been recognized by the Public Relations Society of America, the International Association of Business Communicators and Crain’s Detroit Business. Throughout the years, our reputation has brought us highly visible projects: Kilpatrick for Mayor 2001 and Kilpatrick for Mayor 2005, Congressional Black Caucus’ 2003 Democratic Presidential Debate and 2008 Presidential Debate, MGM Grand Detroit’s Casino Staffing Center Opening, Grand Hotel’s Somewhere in Time Weekend with Jane Seymour and many others.
