Faygo Celebrates 100 Years of Pop

Situation:
Faygo Beverages, a beloved southeast Michigan institution, was approaching its 100th anniversary. Berg Muirhead and Associates was tasked with raising awareness of the event by coordinating a year long celebration of this milestone moment. 

Strategy:
The celebration was anchored around four capstone events: A Centennial Recipe Book Contest, Create-A-Flavor Contest, 100th Anniversary Employee Picnic and 100th Anniversary Birthday Cupcake Media Blitz. Each component had its own unique packaging and presentation that accompanied the press releases.

Results:
Faygo enjoyed exceptional media attention throughout the year. Faygo spokespersons shared their unique history through various on-air interviews with broadcast media along with features and multiple mentions in the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News, Oakland Press and HOUR Detroit. 

The campaign was crowned by two lasting tributes to the historic icon. The Governor’s Office declared August 5th, “Faygo Day,” throughout the state of Michigan and the Metro Times picked Faygo as the people’s choice for “Best Michigan Made Product” for 2007.
